Week 3 Fantasy Football Guide

Welcome back to our Fantasy Football Guide. Here you can find all the information you might need as you continue on your journey to win your fantasy football league.

Now that we’re in week two you probably have a player or two who are just flat out disappointing you so far. I’m talking to you O.J Howard owners, I’ve seen your angry tweets and I know how you feel, because I just so happen to have him in my twelve man auction league. I, like you, are disappointed by his 5.7 point total in the first two games. Now onto my “I’m Done List”, which is a list of players that I would consider benching or dropping.

The “I’m Done” List

O.J Howard TE Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Like I said, I have O.J Howard in my 12 team auction league, and I regret spending $8 to get him. Howard has been awful so far, only scoring 5.7 points (0 last week against the Panthers) in the first two weeks of the season. He is on pace to catch 16 passes this season, Yikes. I expect Howard to bounce back and have success in Bruce Arians’s pass heavy offense, but for now I am definitely going to bench him.

Joe Mixon RB Cincinnati Bengals

Mixon has failed to reach 10 points in either of the first two games. He’s also failed to rush for 20 yards in a game. With injuries and a rather terrible offense, I don’t know when Mixon will play up to his potential as a top 10 running back. You need to be very cautious about starting Mixon if you decide not to take him out of the lineup.

Devonta Freeman RB Atlanta Falcons

Freeman has had a little bit of success as a pass catcher, but that’s the only positive thing he’s done. He’s rushed for just 41 yards total and 0 touchdowns. Very discouraging numbers for a top end RB2. With the Falcons’ offensive line starting to fall apart with injuries and backup Ito Smith having similar production, I would consider moving on from Freeman.

This week there are a ton of valuable receivers on waivers. I have three receivers alone on my waiver claim top five, and I could have even more. If you’re looking for a WR2 or a flex then make sure you take a look at Terry McLaurin, D.J Chark, and either Mecole Hardman or Demarcus Robinson. Here is our Waiver Claim Top Five.

Waiver Claim Top Five

(All players are available in over 50% of ESPN leagues)

1. Terry McLaurin WR Washington Redskins (41% Rostered)

11.7 Projected Week Three points

Terry McLaurin has been terrific the first two weeks of his rookie year. McLaurin scored 17.2 points against the Cowboys and continues to put up WR1 numbers. If his volume increases then he will be a fantasy monster this whole year. Just imagine when former Ohio State teammate, Dwayne Haskins, becomes the starter.

2. Demarcus Robinson WR Kansas City Chiefs (1.1% rostered)

11.1 Projected Week Three Points

Robinson had the game of his career Sunday, catching 6 passes for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns. With Tyreek Hill out I expect Robinson to step into the WR2 role and put up solid numbers with higher usage. His teammate Mecole Hardman is also a nice option, but Robinson saw a just a few more targets and was used a little bit more.

3. Josh Allen QB Buffalo Bills (30% rostered)

Allen is looking much better as a passer, but his real value is in his running ability. He’s run for 59 yards and two touchdowns on 17 rushes in the first two games. If the Bills continue to utilize Allen’s legs in the red zone, then I believe Allen is the top waiver-wire QB.

4. D.J Chark WR Jacksonville Jaguars (22.2% rostered)

D.J Chark exploded with 43.1 points in the first two games. He is a solid volume speedy receiver with the potential to go off every game. Chark’s value decreases with Gardner Minshew at QB, but look at him if you are thin at receiver.

5. Carlos Hyde RB Houston Texans

Last week Carlos Hyde had 90 yards on 20 carries. If he can get 15-20 carries every week then I would scoop him up. With that volume he is going to get you a decent amount of points every game. I don’t particularly like Carlos Hyde, but he is a bright spot in a lackluster group of waiver-wire running backs.

We hope you found this information helpful and we will be back next week with another fantasy football guide.
